Turning websites into desktop apps

Plan desktop editions of your web projects for Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS/PWA, with individual build settings for each platform.

Windows

Planned formats: EXE, MSI and MSIX, depending on the project's technology stack.

macOS

Planned formats: APP and DMG; distribution outside the development environment may require signing and notarization.

Linux

Possible formats: AppImage, DEB, RPM and Flatpak, depending on the target distribution.

ChromeOS / Web

A web app or PWA installable in supported browsers; capabilities vary by device.

Desktop build setup

Stage 1 of the server-side compiler: a backend API has been added to the archive to validate settings and queue jobs. It does not yet produce installer files. Details in compiler-service/README.md.

This is an interface prototype. It generates a technical brief in the browser but does not produce installer files. A real compiler will require a backend, a build queue, build agents for the relevant operating systems, code signing, testing and secure key storage.
